Briefs of Happenings for the 1st Couple of Days...

There are simply too many things that happened in this initial period to be blogged... but here are some memorable ones...

1st Day: Was at the Bank of America(BOA) to set up my bank account after touch-down. Was so flustered, that i subconsciously locked the car, without even realizing that i actually left my car keys in the back seat. Had to call for the tow service in the end... thankfully, it was included in the insurance when i rented the goddamn car!

2nd Day: Spent the whole freaking afternoon searching for an apartment. Thankfully i found one by the end of the day. A nice taiwanese family owns the house, and needs rent to help pay off the mortgage.

Unfortunately, the day ended with some commotion in the hotel.... with someone shouting,"Pls help me!!...Arrrrggghhhh....Don't do this to me!!!!.... Somebody..PLS HELP ME!!!..". Sounds like some spoilt record player that kept repeating himself over and over again. Sounded like he was being chased or something. Anyway, it gave me enough creeps to place me on high alert whole night long....= Not enough Sleep...really dun feel that secure in a new neighbourhood.

3rd Day: Surprises Abound! Morning call from Sam to have dinner with him that night. Why?.... Another friend from Yahoo! is touching down that afternoon in SFO!...Finally... a familiar face...this is coincidence number 1. Later that morning, i met an NUS school-mate, Yang Lei while applying for my Social Security Number! Coincidently, she had enrolled for the Masters Program in Stanford. We exchanged numbers, chatted a little, and we separated. The day was spent furnishing up my room(as above), and it ended nicely with dinner at "AppleBees", all 7 of us, with 4 from Yahoo!. Great steak and burgers... you can find it on Google Maps, 555, Saratoga Ave, San Jose, CA 95129.

The 4th day was spent finishing up my room, and searching for cars. Ended up purchasing a '95 Toyota Camry, 2.2L, from a dealer, for USD$4,900. Will post the pic when i get it. I got the dealer to do some paintwork and a timing belt change for me over the weekend. So i can only get it next week. Shucks... i hate to waste money on this rented 1.5L Chev Aveo....
